Monticello: Home of America’s Third President
One of Charlottesville’s most important attractions, Monticello (‘Little Mountain’ in Italian), was the personal estate of Thomas Jefferson. He became the 3rd president of the United States in 1801. Sitting on 5,000 acres of pristine land, Monticello is located alongside the Thomas Jefferson Parkway just outside the city.
